Management Appointment - Processing Manager
January 31, 2025
Federation Mining is pleased to announce the appointment of our Processing Manager for the Snowy River Mine.
Damien Taplin is an experienced mining and processing professional who will join our team in March, ahead of the commencement of construction of our onsite processing facility. Damien’s role will see him being able to provide input and support to our design and construction teams ahead of plant commissioning in 2026.
Damien is relocating to New Zealand from Australia with his family, he holds a Bachelor of Science (Extractive Metallurgy) and has worked in leadership positions with Wave International, Ramelius Resources, Evolution Mining, Croesus Mining and Norseman Gold.
We look forward to Damien joining our team as we progress towards moving the Snowy River Mine into production.

Management Appointment - Project Manager, Plant Construction
July 8, 2024
Federation is pleased to announce a new management appointment with Steve Laracy joining the team in the role of Project Manager reporting directly to our Managing Director Mark Le Messurier. Steve has been working closely with Federation over the past 12 months overseeing process plant engineering and assisting with early-stage construction planning.
The Project Manager role will provide oversight for construction phase, coordinating work packages with our contract partners and will work in closely with our Mine General Manager & site team to ensure work is executed safely and in alignment with our plans.
Steve is an engineer and has extensive project and construction management experience working leading EPCM firm Larpro Pty Ltd working on projects such as Mt Carlton Gold project, Eva Copper Mine, Phosphate Hill, process plant greenfield developments and brownfield expansions in the Hunter Valley, Queensland and Asia, and manufacturing facilities in Queensland.
We are delighted to have Steve supporting the next phase of Snowy River project and he is already busy engaging with potential contractors to support the process plant build on the West Coast. Steve will be on the West Coast more often moving forward with a trip already planned in mid July.

Management Appointment - Sustainability Manager

Federation is pleased to announce a new management appointment with the recruitment of Mark Brown into the role of Sustainability Manager. Mark will join our site leadership team at Snowy River Mine in New Zealand in August 2024.
He has worked extensively in Australia and overseas in the Sustainability functions & operational management, holding Senior Site Executive roles at True North Copper & Navarre Minerals and senior management roles at Evolution Mining, MMG, Zinifex & Newcrest.
Mark’s remit will include oversight and governance of the Health, Safety, Environment and Community functions and will have a special focus on contractor management and risk assurance during our plant construction phase.

Federation is pleased to announce a new funding agreement has been reached with AustralianSuper. This funding package will facilitate the payment to OceanaGold for the purchase of the Snowy River mine asset, continued development of the mine and completion of process plant engineering. Federation is grateful for the continued support from AustralianSuper and in parallel is pursuing a variety of additional funding opportunities to assist in the construction of the processing plant.

Federation Mining is pleased to provide an update on preparations for the resource drilling program starting in early 2023. Federation has appointed and signed a contract for the diamond drilling with New Zealand based company Alton Drilling Limited, Alton will also be assisting with the dewatering of the Blackwater mine.
